Swiss Re is the world's largest life & health reinsurer.
The Challenge
Swiss Re's experience monitoring team (actuaries) had a vision
to provide statistics and analyses of their [policy and claim]
experience of a quality, accuracy, and timeliness not
available elsewhere in the industry.
Internally, good statistics would put Swiss Re in a position
to be able to quote generally on terms that they felt confident
were profitable without having to incorporate large margins
making them uncompetitive. And where they had previously quoted
on loss-making terms, these statistics would at least provide
a reasonable estimate of the quantum of the expected loss.
Externally, Swiss Re could enhance the overall service it could offer
its ceding offices by providing 'information' not available elsewhere.
However, achieving Swiss Re's vision would require developing
procedures, systems, and capacities necessary to capture and analyse
millions of Swiss Re policies and claims.

future claims' exposure.

systems development methods and tools.

future claims' exposure.
